Ever wished you could make your own clothes? Not sure how to read a pattern? This is a great place to start. You will be expected to bring your own commercial dress pattern and provide your own materials. Basic equipment can be supplied.
This is an informal workshop, to enjoy your knitting and ideas with others. Bring whatever’s on your needles, or be inspired to start something new. If you’re wanting to learn to knit, this would be the best workshop for you. Rather than trying to gain all the skills in one day, you can progress and learn to correct mistakes over time.
An informal workshop for you to bring any patchwork or sewing project you might be working on. You can use this workshop to get additional help and guidance and enjoy being inspired from other’s projects.
Learn to make your own beautiful beaded jewellery. With a range of different designs you can create a huge variety of versions. You will pick up lots of useful beading and jewellery making tips and techniques as you make your jewellery.
These evenings are really useful if you need a little guidance, want to start a new project but not sure how to, or need a helping hand to finish something off. Suitable for newbies and experienced sewers and knitters alike. This is also the best time for finishing off projects and can be used as a drop-in evening, although always check how busy we are beforehand as places can fill up fast.
Luna Lapin rabbit and her friends are the most beautiful ‘toys’ to make and enjoy. Sarah is our resident expert in all things Luna and will be on hand to assist and inspire your Luna making. You’re also welcome to bring your sewing or patchwork project.
This zip bag will include a flying geese central panel that creates a lovely focal point. The finished pouch opens out to allow easy filling and ease of seeing what’s inside. A great project to make for storing sewing notions, make-up or small crochet/craft projects.
Manx quilting is traditional technique from the Isle of Man, using folded strips of fabric to make a log-cabin style block. It is completely hand sewn using strips of fabric. The block can be used in quilts, bags, cushions etc. This workshop is an introduction to the technique.
Is your sewing machine collecting dust or still in its box? Not sure what all those attachments are for or just feel that you could do so much more with your machine if only you knew how? Then this is the perfect workshop for you! Just bring your machine and some scrap fabric and see what it is capable of!
This bag is a super useful shopper, with a drawstring to protect your purchases. It would also be a useful make to learn to make for gifts. You’ll also have a chance to practice and improve your general sewing skills and pick up lots of useful hints and tips.
If you want to have a go at patchwork but not sure where to start, this workshop is perfect for you! We have all the equipment needed, so you can see if you enjoy the techniques before buying all the equipment for yourself. You will be required to bring your own fabrics. The design is simple, so you will learn the basics but still complete the patchwork for a small quilt (approx. 34”x50”) or a cushion. Most will manage to get their quilt top completed on the day, with demonstrations and information given for how to complete your quilt.
Spend a day making your beautiful Luna Lapin rabbit or one of her friends! The day is designed for those starting a new animal and are new to Luna, along with those who have already started and wish to make some progress.
Learn how to make this simple but effective star block, which can then be used in a quilt, cushion, bags etc. This workshop is designed for those who have purchased a Star Block quilt or cushion kit, but do chat to us if you’re interested in this workshop but don’t wish to buy the kit.
Learn how to make a Cathedral window patchwork block and then turn it into a useful and beautiful pin cushion. The zip bowl pouch is great for storing and organising quilting clips or threads. Both would also be a useful make to learn to make for gifts. You’ll also practice and improve your general sewing skills and pick up lots of useful hints and tips.
Not only will you end up with a super useful Peg-Bag (which might well be useful for hats, gloves, plastic bags etc), you’ll also have a chance to practice and improve your general sewing, quilting and applique skills.
Our next QAYG will be ‘Cuckoo’s nest’, a really versatile block with plenty of scope. It’s great for using up good size stash pieces (10” squares), or start afresh with a layer cake. You will spend the first day learning the patchwork block technique, along with cutting the correct size blocks and quilting them. On Day 2 you’ll learn how to join them together and on Day 3 you’ll add the borders and bindings.
Note: On Friday 13th February from 11–12, Sarah will meet with you to chat through the quilt and requirements.
This sweet little roll is perfect for all hand-sewers and hand-quilters. It will hold your thread tidy, with space for your clips, pins, needles and small scissors.
This is the first of a series of workshops using pre-cuts (jelly rolls, charms, mini charms etc.). The first three dates will focus on using a jelly roll to make patchwork blocks, that can then be turned into cushions, bags, table runners or quilts. Each of the days will have different blocks, so you can learn up to 12 blocks over the three workshops.
Ever ended up with your embroidery or EPP laying in a carrier bag while it’s a work-in-progress? This clever zip bag will provide the perfect storage for your projects while you’re working on them. With a clear front, you can easily identify which project is inside!
